‘Discover’ is the mindset of a new believer discovering how to walk with God. They have made a decision to believe, but they wonder, “What does this mean for me?” A local church is engaged in preaching and teaching (Acts 14:21-22), baptizing and teaching them (Mt 28:19-20) … the first step in equipping the saints for ministry. From the standpoint of the new believer, this is the process of discovery – learning what it means to follow Christ.
‘Discover’ is the next crucial step in the discipleship cycle. In the context of ordered learning where discipleship is cumulative, it is important that any discipleship curriculum ensures that a new believer can fully discover how to walk with God and in doing so be transformed (head, heart, and hands) in a community context and with accountability.
